A longtime University of Georgia and Athens radio personality and writer, Jeff Dantzler serves as the play-by-play voice of the University of Georgia baseball and women’s basketball programs, and is the host of the football’s pre and post-game shows, as well as the Sunday Bulldog Brunch – along with Hall of Fame legend Kevin Butler. Dantzler hosts The Home Team weekdays from 4pm-7pm. He has been the sports editor of Bulldawg Illustrated magazine since its inception in 2003. Dantzler has also been a guest on numerous national and regional radio broadcasts. He has a wide range of knowledge on sports history, most notably college football and the Southeastern Conference.
On SEC Network programming, Dantzler has been the play by play voice of numerous men’s basketball, baseball, soccer, swimming, volleyball and tennis broadcasts.
The foremost “young historian” on University of Georgia athletics, Dantzler has been the play-by-play announcer for the Lady Bulldogs since the 1993-94 season, calling the program’s run to three final fours and a trio of Southeastern Conference championships. The voice of Georgia baseball since 1995, Dantzler has called four Bulldog trips to the College World Series and three SEC titles. He was the color commentator for Georgia’s men’s basketball team from the 1997-2009.
Since 2012, Dantzler has been a regular contributor on Campus Insiders, an internet television production, primarily on SEC, University of Georgia, and general college football topics.
A frequent speaker on the banquet circuit, Dantzler is a regular featured guest at University of Georgia alumni and touchdown clubs throughout the state and southeast. He was the emcee of celebrity roasts for University of Georgia legends Dan Magill, Andy Landers, David Perno and Allen Miller.
He was the emcee for the University of Georgia’s Circle of Honor banquet – the school’s athletic hall of fame – in 2016 and 2017.
Dantzler has covered three Olympic Games for Olympic Broadcasting Services, a worldwide network that distributes stories, highlights and interviews to over 200 countries. At the London 2012 Olympics, he was the journalist overseeing swimming and synchronized swimming, while voicing and producing numerous highlights and feature stories. Dantzler worked in the same capacity at the Sochi 2014 Winter Games, voicing and producing various feature stories while covering ice hockey. In 2016, he was the primary journalist for the men's basketball tournament in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
A Statesboro (GA) native, Dantzler graduated from Georgia with a degree in political science.
