Two bodies found: Barrow Co Sheriff’s Office investigates

Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith says it might have been a case of self-defense: two people—a man and woman—are dead and a third person is in custody after a deadly shooting at a residence off Highway 82 in eastern Barrow County. The investigation is ongoing.

On March 2nd, 2021 at approximately 0126 hours, deputies received a call in reference to suspicious people standing around a residence wearing masks. Upon the deputies’ arrival dispatch advised that there was a deceased female in a vehicle approximately 100 yards down the road from the deputies’ location. The deputies located a female deceased in the vehicle.

The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division arrived, and the scene was turned over to them. A short time after investigators arrived, the Winder Police Department advised that there was another deceased individual located up the road from the initial scene.

It has been determined that both of the deceased individuals are related to the same incident. Both victims are in their late teens to early 20′s and one is a female and one is a male. One suspect has been arrested and is being detained at the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.

The victim’s information is not being released at this time. This investigation is still ongoing, and the Sheriff’s Office is not releasing any more information at this time. The Sheriff’s Office has determined that there is no danger to the public at this time.
